What does Luxury mean to us?

People define luxury in a very different ways, based on their own values and perceptions. It could be a taste, like Swiss Chocolate. A luxury product, like a Swiss Watch. Or a luxury service, like a Swiss Bank.

But our definition of luxury differs from many. We don’t buy into the whole ‘luxury for luxury’s sake’ thing. We’re very down to earth with simple tastes. We don’t tend to buy luxury clothes or cars because these ‘things’ are typically used as status symbols. And that’s not how we live.

Does that mean we don’t like, appreciate or understand luxury? Absolutely not. As a team we have over 35 years experience working with some of the world’s finest luxury brands such as: Bentley, Aston Martin, Sunseeker Yachts, Barclays Wealth, Royal Ascot to name just a few. We have a deep and intimate understanding of what luxury is and the obsessive attention to detail and hard graft required to create a luxury brand. We get it. For us luxury is as much about blood , sweat and tears than it is about shiny diamonds and branded clothing. To explain further let’s take a look at three of our clients…

Hemmels (hemmels.com)

Hemmels take Mercedes Pagodas (190Sl, 280 SL and 300SL) that were made in the 1960’s and restore them to a better than new condition. Their 9-step restoration process is unique in the industry. It’s brutal and unforgiving with Hemmels’ artisan technicians stripping a car to its bare bones and painstakingly rebuilding it one nut, bolt, washer and hub cap at a time. It’s almost laughable how much longer this process takes compared to their competitors but this to us is… luxury.

Enchanted Creations (enchantedcreations.co.uk)

If you are looking for a company that can build a stunning treehouse, playhouse or garden room, you’re spoilt for choice. In the Uk alone there are at least 20 companies who can help you to build your dream structure. But only one that is true luxury (in our opinion).

Meet Enchanted Creations. In their own words “It’s not simply about timber and joinery, bricks and glass, fixtures and fittings. This is a journey without limits, that begins with whatever you dare to imagine.” The amount of thought, care and attention that goes into each structure is way over and above what any of their competitors would offer. Why? Because they care about their customers and will literally go to the ends of the earth to give them what they desire. And what do you call that? Luxury.

Tedworth Property (tedworth.co.uk)

Tedworth sell prime property in London. Headed up by Christian Warman and Simon Tollit (ex Sotheby’s and Savilles respectively), three years ago, after getting frustrated that they couldn’t give their clients the time and energy they deserved working for a large agency they took the bold step of starting up on their own with one sole purpose: to literally bend over backwards to help prospects looking to buy prime property in London find their perfect home. Every Tedworth client is treated like royalty and nothing is ever too much trouble. Why? Because that’s exactly how it should be! Again true luxury - not a brand name on a watch, a car, or a handbag. It’s about going above and beyond every single time!

Luxury doesn’t have to cost the earth either. Many of life’s luxuries are free… Eating fish and chips by the sea (if you’re in the UK anyway). The stranger that sees when you’re upset and gives you their time to make you feel better. A craft beer pulled straight from the pump in a micro brewery. Gong camping with a group of your closest friends. These are all luxury. And this is what we’re all about: time, effort, caring, understanding, and giving 110% always.

Because as we say at Luxury Lloyd… “Good enough is NEVER good enough!”
