The Challenge
Crow’s Hall is one of the UK’s most exclusive luxury wedding venues. Caroline Spurrier, the owner, contacted us saying she wanted a website redesign as her current site (see below) lacked the ‘wow factor’ it deserved and was generating around one enquiry a month.
What we did…
Logo Redesign
The first thing we did was to redesign the brand’s logo. Caroline was nervous about changing things too much as the ‘deer crest’ was part of Crow’s Hall’s rich history. We kept the deer motif, redesigned the crest and used a much more timeless luxury font (Gil Sans). You can see the difference below.

Image Sourcing
The next stage was to gather all the raw materials needed to create the Crow’s Hall website. Caroline had hundreds of photos from previous weddings and our job was to sift through and selected the ones that we felt gave the ‘wow factor’ she had asked for. Typically this process takes much longer than clients expect as the images we choose have to look amazing and be of a high enough resolution. We also added a number of filters to the photos and in some cases colour-corrected them.
Copywriting
The copywriting (wording) on the original website was well written in places however it was ‘stuffed’ with keywords to try and ‘game’ Google’s algorithm and improve rankings. But it didn’t read well (see below). Google is wise to this now and favours websites that are easy to read, fast to load and engaging. There was also far too much text on the site so we removed over 50% of it leaving just the key messages. The original copy was also very ‘we’ focused (written in the first person) - instead we made things a lot more ‘you’ focused (second person), talking to the visitor directly.
Website Design & Build
We built the new Crow’s Hall new website on Squarespace - our platform of choice when it comes to building stunning, engaging, fast luxury websites. We selected a cursive (script) font for the main headings and a simple sans font for the body copy, meaning it was easy to read on all devices. You can view the result below or visit: crows-hall.com to see the site in its full glory.
The Result
We think Caroline’s email says it all…
